2026 Hunter Gridiron League Kicks Off

The 2026 Hunter Gridiron League kicked off this past Saturday at Awabakal Park, Mayfield.

The Season started with a sensational double header featuring the Newcomers Maitland Tigers taking on the Central Coast Sharks, which ended with a 35-6 resounding victory to the Club from the coast.

That being said, the Maitland side had an incredible first ever hit out, with their QB playing QuarterBack or the first time,
before going off injured with sore ribs.

A brilliant intercept by Linebacker Rhett Tos helped keep the score margin to what it was.
While the Tigers have a lot to work on, they also have just as much that they can be proud of.

The second game of the day saw the Marauders take on the Bombers,
The bombers impressed early by putting a 3 score margin on the reigning champions,

However, a lot of ill discipline from the Bombers almost derailed the start of their 2026 campaign.
The game went down to the wire with the final play deciding who would win and who would go home hanging their heads,

It was the Bombers who got the chocolates, winning 28-24.

The Marauders take on The Tigers and the Bombers take on the Sharks next Saturday
at Fred Harvey Oval, Woodberry.
